The Neverending To Do List

So, it's enough to get things together to go to the beach for a week, right? Well. I've also got to catch up on all of the cleaning that I ignored while sick. My room is a disaster from cups, tissues, and clothes everywhere. The laundry is really behind. The living room is SO bad! I have been trying to catch up on some cleaning and do a little packing. I apparently still get tired pretty easily. I think I'm ready for a little nap if I can manage it. I'll make sure the laundry gets switched out and I'll go lay down for a while. Tonight I have shopping to do. The kids are going to get to clean the living room and their bedrooms. They'll be so happy!

Last Day at Work

I had a good last day today. Some of the ladies at the office took me out to lunch and told me how much they would miss me. :) It was a good job for my ego, that's for sure. Nothing like taking a simple job, doing it really well, and having people love you for it. :)

So I rested tonight and didn't worry about all of the things I need to do to get ready to go to the beach. I'll do all of that tomorrow. :) I've got some shopping to do, but mostly cleaning and packing. The van needs to be cleaned and vacuumed, so I'll get started on that first thing in the morning. That will make it easier as I start to pack... I can just throw stuff out in the van and then we can rearrange it all later. And Mike will put up the car top carrier after he gets home from work and can put the kitchen sink up there. :)

Getting Better

Yea! I actually slept well last night. It was an amazing feeling to wake up this morning feeling rested. I woke up a couple of times with a spot in my throat that had me hacking up my lungs, but overall, it was a good night.

Cole is better and has been to school for two days now. And none of the other kids (knock on wood) seem to be getting anything. Mike says he's fine, so hopefully we're good to go for this weekend!

And tomorrow is my last day of work at the law firm. I will go to Shodor one day after we get back from the beach, but then I'm done there, too! Imagine that! Me. Unemployed again. How fun!

So I'm trying hard not to fill my schedule with things. I will have a busy week right after we get back from the beach, but then it should be pretty quiet for me for a couple of months. I'm really looking forward to catching up on some much needed cleaning and organizing in the house before the kids come home for the summer.

Thanks for reading my blog!!!!!!!!

Still Sick

Cole was up during the night on Saturday with the croup. Poor kid and poor Mike (who slept on the floor by the open window with him). I struggled hard last night with a major sore throat and sinus pressure so bad I thought my head would explode. I think I'm going over to the drug store today to pick up some Tylenol Cold.

And Cole and I are on our own today... Mike took care of us all weekend and now I actually have to get my own food and drink. I hope I remember my way around the kitchen. :)

So, don't come to our house. But I promise to be better by this weekend when we head off to the beach for the week.... Yea!

Will the Illnesses Never End???

I got a call from Cole's teacher on Monday saying that he had a fever of 102. I picked him up from school and he didn't go back all week. (They were out on Friday, but I don't know if he would have been well enough to go.) His fever seemed to go away Thursday/Friday, but this morning he woke up feeling really bad and when I checked, it was 102 again. Poor kid. I'll probably have to take him to the doctor on Monday if he still has the fever.

And just like with the cold that Reid brought home a couple of months ago, I am lucky enough to get this one, too. I woke up yesterday feeling really crappy and it's only getting worse today. I don't have the fever, though, so that is much appreciated. I hope it goes away quicker than Cole's. Mike has been working overtime to keep me and Cole comfortable. I made him use his lunch hour yesterday to bring me some comfort items. And he's been making soup, tea, and oatmeal for us. And he's been the general "get me what I need" guy. Good think he likes us so much.

So, sympathy vibes are appreciated and we hope that your family is fairing better.

The New Bed

We got our bed last Thursday! It took the two delivery guys quite a bit of effort to get it up the steps. The ceiling is a bit low in one spot, so they had to work it past there. I was glad they were doing it and not me and Mike. I've had a bit of trouble adjusting to the new bed. But some of that is attributed to my sore, bruised leg. I can't lay in several positions still. It's getting better each day, but still very tender. So... here's a picture of the bed:

The bedspread looks better in person. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond after searching several stores. I like all of the colors in it. They match almost every color I've painted in my house. :) (Oh, and it's pretty brown... that's always a plus.)

Ouch, Ouch, and Double Ouch

I like to play volleyball on Wednesday nights with ladies from the Stake. The stake center has a really nice gym, but there are often lots of chairs stacked up along the walls. This gets in the way of playing volleyball to the fullest extent, but you get used to avoiding the walls. This past week, the chairs were pretty much all cleared off, so it was nice to be able to serve outside the line instead of in. However, there was a table that was left along the wall. Why someone didn't think, "Huh. We should move that." I have no idea. So, who had the honor of "finding" the table? You got it. Me. Ouch. I was going after the ball (which someone on my side had hit backwards) and had my head up. The table was only about 2 feet tall, so it was completely out of my peripheral vision. I ran smack into it with the side of my thigh. Yowza. Now. I got the hit and another player on my side hit my hit over and we scored the point, so it was all worth it, right? Take a look at these pictures and you'll think it wasn't. :( I hobbled around for two days and am still sore, but not too bad.

This was the morning after the collision:

This is what it looks like tonight:

It's about 6 inches across. It covers my whole thigh. Mike says I shouldn't let anyone see it or they'll think he beats me. :) It would be believable, too, with the fresh bruise on my knee from volleyball this week and the old bruises on my shin from running into a box in the hallway. :( I'm just pitiful lately.

New Bed

Finally, after two years of looking and needing a new bed, Mike and I bought one today. We got a Simmons Beautyrest. Hopefully it will last for many, many years. We've had this cheap bed for 9 years, so I have hope that the new one will last much longer. And the new one is a king, replacing our current queen. That will also be nice. A little extra space for my floppiness. Although with the better bed, I may not be so floppy.

And I had a good time talking the guy down in price. Not that I went down so low that he didn't agree with my first offered price, but I still got to haggle a little. That's always fun for me.

The bed will be delivered on Thursday. When I got home, I realized I have a lot of work to do to get my bedroom ready for the bigger bed. One of the things in my room was the mirror from the kid's bathroom before the remodel. So I posted it on craigslist and now it's gone. I love craigslist. Sadly, that was the easiest thing I have to do. Too bad craigslist can't come clean my room. :)
